AGREEMENT
between
Culture Information
and Pastoral Development (CIPAD)
and
Mondeco Onlus
This
agreement between “the Cultural, Information and Pastoral development organization”
(hereinafter referred to as “CIPAD”) and Moneco Onlus (hereinafter referred to
as “Mondeco”), establishes the broad mutual understanding of the two
organizations regarding the relationship in implementing the project “Orphans
and Vulnerable Children’s care in Sololo, Sololo District”
We
recognize the autonomy of each organization and enter this agreement in a
spirit of mutual trust and respect. This agreement is therefore a statement of
mutual intent to which the two organizations are bound.
The
objective of the project is to improve the living conditions of orphans and
vulnerable children in the District, particularly those affected by HIV/AIDS,
by providing care and
assistance for as many needy orphaned or vulnerable children between 0 and 12
years old as possible, in their extended or foster families; establishing a
residential village based on the traditional set –up of the Borana ( Obbijtu
Children Home), to house a limited number of children for whom homecare is
impossible.
The
project will involve a close and active partnership between CIPAD and Mondeco.
Assessment of needs, planning and implementation of activities will be jointly
conducted by CIPAD and Mondeco staff.
Further
obligations are as follows:
Obligations of Mondeco
·
Provide
a skilled Advisor and organizational expertise to assist CIPAD carrying out the
project activities;
·
Provide
the funds necessary to implement the project – according to the attached budget
– for one year, with the possibility of extension to a further year;
·
Provide
technical support and advise on the implementation and proper management of the
project in close consultation with CIPAD;
·
Mondeco
will give a partial support in terms of financial assistance to the training
activities of CIPAD;
·
Ensure
the proper utilization of the project equipment and material resources;
·
Be
responsible for submitting the required narrative and financial reports to the
donors (?);
·
Inform
counterpart and donors about any constraints, delays, necessary amendments or
modifications of project activities and any fact or circumstance that can
hamper the regular project progress;
·
Ensure
the running and maintenance of the OVC Village’s guest house.
Obligations of CIPAD
·
Establish
jointly with Mondeco the criteria for selecting
the beneficiaries for the project and OVC center;
·
Select
the beneficiaries for the Project and OVC Centre in accordance with the laid
down criteria;
·
Establish
jointly with Mondeco the criteria for
selecting the Project and OVC personnel;
·
Select
the Project and OVC personnel, jointly with the community leadership and the
women and youth groups, according the laid down criteria;
·
Ensure
that the staff policy is compliant with the laws of Kenya, and that shall
involve compliance with the current social security, healthcare and workplace
safety regulations;
·
Develop
by the end of June 2010 a training manual for the training of the recruited
Project personnel which is to be endorsed by Mondeco before the training is
initiated;
·
Cipad
will produce evidence of the expenses incurred into for the support received by
Mondeco according to the requests and the formats presented by Mondeco;
·
Cipad
will look for funds for the Project from local and international donors, in
close cooperation with Mondeco;
·
Cipad
will produce evidence of the expenses incurred into for the support received by
other donors than Mondeco, according to the requests and the formats presented
by them;
·
Conduct
the sensitization campaign with the CCM (former leading agent) and Mondeco to
share the Project with the community, through Government officers, community
leader, religious leaders, women and youth group representative, beneficiaries,
according the agreed budget;
·
Conduct
the training for the OVC personnel according to the agreed upon training manual
and training tools by the end of July 2010, as well as a refresher course once
every year;
·
Advise
the Mondeco appointed Project and OVC Village Advisor on matters affecting and
relevant to the running of the project;
·
Disseminate
information relevant to the traditions, culture and way of life of the Borana
to the children in the Project, by holding cultural education session on a
monthly basis in order for the children to learn their culture and understand
who they are;
·
Carry
on the activities agreed with Mondeco upon completion of the project
implementation period, ensuring the compliancy to the Children Act 2001.
