INTRODUCTION

CEREMOP chairperson Mr. Jillo Bonaya welcomed the participant to this important function on HIV/AIDS training workshop. In his speech he clearly defined the role of CEREMOP and area of coverage to the participants.Mr.Jillo introduces his staff and quick introduction of the participants conducted. The chairperson welcomed Mr. Philip Bulle to open the workshop. The chairperson probe the participants whether to have meal or money the participant request money since there is severe drought allover the Division.

OPENING SPEECH

Mr. Philip Bulle who is the divisional representative from CACC opened the floor of the workshop with blessing. In his opening he said “I do feel honoured to have being invited to open this seminar on HIV/AIDS prevention and advocacy conducted at Ummoja women group hall by CEREMOP organization.”
He added that this was the only active CBO initiating its project in this division. It’s a good beginning for the organization to implement this colourfully occasion on HIV AIDS training at this center. In his speech he said “the rate of HIV/AIDS infection is too high in the division and it’s our responsibility to disseminate the knowledge and skill learnt
In workshop to our people.” He finally thanked the CEREMOP for their effort and achievement.

HIV/AIDS has planted it seed in 1990 in Obbu Division and grew gradually multiplying it’s viruses to many people. Currently the rate of HIV/AIDS is so high .

- Encourage members of the public to go for HIV test centers (VCT) voluntary counseling test
- Leaders can ensure that in every center they shall organize lobby groups to educate community at various levels

Recommendation

-Participants fully support the effort of CEREMOP and bless them to continue in same spirit

Conclusion
There is need for more training since people are adopting and acquiring skills and knowledge of HIV/AIDS. Majority of the opulation are following ABC method to minimize the spread of HIV/AIDS

WORKSHOP REPORT ON HIV/AIDS HELD FOR VARIOUS INSTITUTIONS AT URAN WOMEN GROUP HALL

INTRODUCTION

Chairperson Mr. Jillo Bonaya welcomed participants to this vital workshop and he invited area councilor Mr. Wario Duba to officiate this workshop .Chairperson vividly explained the meaning of CEROMOP , it’s objectives and area of coverage to the participants .Later on brief introduction has been done that each participant should mention his name and his position in the group, then the chairperson probe participants whether to have meals or money ,the participants replied that they wanted money since this is crucial time of draught.

Opening Speech

Mr. Wario Duba who is the area councilor blessed the workshop with a word of prayer. He also welcomed CEREMOP team to this Division (Uran).He pointed out that this training is of most vital to every individual in the community specially the young generation those who are sexually active. The knowledge and the skills learnt here should be disseminated to the rest of community as you are the stakeholders in every sector i.e. women group, youth group, Religious leaders and village elders
In addition, he gave thanks to the CEREMOP for their effort and achievement. He concluded that this is the only CBO who dedicated their work and initiative. This colorful training to this Division.

HIV/AIDS is one of the looming disease national wide. It was discovered in Kenya the year 1981 and developed its roots in Uran Division of Moyale District 1990.
HIV AIDS is a sexually transmitted disease and women are prone to this killer disease since virus live in moist conditions. HIV/AIDS – is very much present in Uran division. From Hospital records out of 100% - 5% is from Uran and as per record a person with 85 years old has a virus. HIV/AIDS in Kenyan has been reduced by 7%. But in Borana community, the rate is still growing since communities stick to bad traditional taboos i.e. wife inheritance.

Incubation Period - this a period within which virus well developed. The incubation period of the disease is 6 weeks.

Window Period -this is the period which the infected person can transmit to another person. This period can run for three months.
